Siem Reap Water Festival, "Angels from Heaven"

“I came here yesterday for the Water Festival Activities and trash was everywhere,” a French tourist said. “Today, angels have been sent from heaven.  It is clean." 

With so many people celebrating and watching the boat races for two days, Siem Reap welcomed  clean up efforts.

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gathered together the morning after the Festival was over to clean up along the riverbanks.  Families, including the young and the old came to beautify their city.  A tour group from Singapore was going by in a van, and asked if they could stop for a while to help.  It seems that good works are contagious! The yellow vests are worn to identify the group.  Volunteers from the Church are seen all over the world doing various acts of service.  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believes in following the teachings of Jesus Christ.  Service to others is an important characteristic of the followers of Jesus Christ.  Mormon Helping Hands provides organized opportunities for Church members to give their time and talents to bless others. It also gives members the opportunity to beautify city streets, parks, schools, and recreational areas where there is a need.  Members also enjoy doing service individually to privately help friends and neighbors when they see a need for help.
