Members Rejoice at the Announcement of a Temple in Cambodia

Church President Announces Temple in Phnom Penh

Members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Cambodia will remember the momentous day when President Russell M. Nelson announced twelve new Temples around the world, including one in Cambodia.

President Veasna Neang, of the Phnom Penh East District, emotionally expressed, “My tears are flowing, and my heart is full! My prayer is answered! A temple in Phnom Penh.”  

Similarly, President John Lewis of the Cambodia Phnom Penh Mission, shared, “When I heard the announcement, I was totally overwhelmed with a feeling of gratitude and appreciation. At my first attempt to call the missionaries to tell them what had been announced, I burst into tears of joy. My wife (Sister Lacinda Lewis) told friends ‘A temple to be built in Cambodia! There could not be a happier people on the planet’.”

President Eng Bunhuoch, of the Phnom Penh North Stake said, “I am so grateful for the news of the Phnom Penh Cambodia Temple that was announced by President Nelson in the Conference today. I want to express my deep thanks and gratitude for all Mission Presidents and their wives, senior missionaries, full time missionaries, area leaders and local leaders, members, and church employees who have laid a firm foundation for our blessings today.”
