Kampong Thom High School Honors Latter-day Saint Charities

Health Improvements for High School

November 1st is the beginning of the new school year across Cambodia, and at Thaeng High School in Kampong Thom. During their opening ceremony, Latter-day Saint Charities was honored for making many improvements at the school site. Those improvements were requested by Ho Sorothy, Director of Ministry of Education and Sports, which include; 3 new wash stations, new water well with electrical pump, two 2,000 litter water storage tanks, incinerator, remodeled 3 latrine stations and pumped out existing septic tanks.

Ith Vuthy, deputy Chef of Education in the province, presiding officer, spoke to the youth about the importance of cleanliness and said, “now there is no excuse not to wash your hands and pick up your garbage.”

Dr. James Taylor, medical missionary, spoke on behalf of Latter Day Saint Charities said, “the church does similar humanitarian projects like this all over the world!” He also said, “we believe the proper use of the incinerator will make the school more beautiful.”

Government leaders, teachers, parents and students were enthusiastic in their appreciation. The students sang “You are my Sunshine” in English to show their gratitude.
