Cooking Stoves for Steung Mean Chey Fire Victims

Fire Destroys 48 Homes

Fire destroyed 48 homes in the Steung Mean Chey area on March 17, affecting 52 families. Elder and Sister Miller, humanitarian missionaries for Latter-day Saint Charities (LDSC) arranged for each of the families affected to receive a gas stove with two cans of gas, two pots, 10 plates, bowls, and spoons, and a 20-liter bottle of water.

Elder and Sister Miller asked Hoy Leanghoin from CCF if they could provide more rice for the fire victims.

Hoy shook his head quickly and started waving his hands as he exclaimed, “No, please. No more rice!”

Steung Mean Chey fire victims received more rice from several sources than they could handle and had no way to cook it. The Millers took quick action to arrange and provide for stoves and fuel to solve the problem.

Hoy reported that, “The families will now be able to cook for themselves.”  He was pleased with the quality of the items LDSC had provided.
